Lymphatic massage is a gentle technique that is easy on the practitioner’s body – yet has very powerful healing ability to decongest tissues, free stagnation and restore health.
Class Goal: Students will learn the full-body protocol of manual lymph drainage and specific protocols for breast cancer, ovarian, uterine, and prostate cancer. Hands-on learning will be supported with the knowledge and understanding of the lymph system, the affects of cancer treatment and appropriate treatment options.
In this class, you will learn what happens when pathways of the lymph system have been interrupted and how lymphedema develops. You will understand how to distinguish primary lymphedema from secondary lymphedema. We will discuss how to work with a compromised system after breast, ovarian, prostate and other cancers and how to navigate different pathways to relieve patients of edematous tissues. For massage therapists, this will deepen your knowledge of how to work with cancer and lymphedema patients with a compromised lymphatic system.
In addition to the lecture components on the function of the lymph system and how it is affected by cancer treatments, you will learn the full-body protocol of manual lymph drainage, and specific protocols for breast cancer, ovarian, uterine, and prostate cancer.
This class is considered a 21 CEU Hands-On class, with a minimum of 70% of the class hours dedicated to hands-on learning. You will leave this class with a comprehensive understanding of how to work with the pathways of the lymph system. For more details you will find the class schedule below.
Juul Bruin will also provide an introduction to the use of bandages and compression wear for clients.
